Easter Holiday Tunage

This is far from a post raving about new tunes which are flying round the blog scene (cos I really would not know) more just some music which I hope you may find pleasant for your ears.

Kim Hiorthoy is new to me this easter. I was sent the album Fantasin Finns I Varkligheten: Japan Selector by York Uni's most notable hipster Mr OJ Hutch and it was an instant hit. The album is a strange experience leading you through the dark depths of Scandinavian electronica. Much of the album leans towards IDM but more toned down than the Cornish sounds of Aphex Twin. Anyway Giving and Taking Book Is beautiful and offers so much more for the ear than most songs I have heard in a long time.

Fiction are a new indie band quite of the moment. The quartet are based in london and are a breath of fresh air. Forget your dull, shitty and massively uninteresting four piece band scene, Fiction are creating catchy hooks and intelligent indie songs with dynamics and melody for once. To stick To is a hotly tipped tune and the band have been featured on BBC Radio 1 session at Maida Vale and in Vice. Visit their myspace and download their BBC sessions.

Thanks to Johnny from
Off Modern for the track.
